Exhibitions

The University participated during the 6th RUFORUM Conference.  The 6th African Higher Education Week and RUFORUM Biennial Conference – 2018 which took place at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) from Monday 22nd October to Friday 26th October, 2018.The theme of the week was “Aligning African Universities to Accelerate Attainment of Africa’s Agenda 2063”.

a)      The University exhibited the following innovations under several sections:

 

 

 i)        Faculty of Engineering & Technology: improved Sorghum thresher, Chaff   Cutter and Animal feeds mixer.

     

 ii)    Agro Science Park: Certified seed varieties including beans, sorghum, groundnuts, finger millet, Mbaazi, pigeon pea and chick  pea.

   

iii)   Department of Dairy, Food Science & Technology: - Extruded Fish feeds containing cricket meal and extruded Fish feeds containing black soldier fly larvae meal& - Beef extension Using Gum Arabic from Acacia senegal var. kerensis.

   

iv)      University Projects:   Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Agriculture and Agribusiness Management (CEESAM) – [Funded by the World Bank]:Scholarship opportunities, CESAAM sponsored programmes, creating awareness, advertising of short courses

     

v)  Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development TAGDev (2016-2024) – [Funded by Master Card Foundation]: Provision of Entrepreneurial Support to Students, Support of Action Research, Support University Community Engagement and Experiential Learning and Students support services.

  

vi)   Centre of Excellence in Livestock Innovation and Business   (COELIB) – [Funded by the European Union]: Incubation  and  Business Development.

 

 

b)      In addition, the University also marketed the University through:

       Issuing of academic programme brochures and any other relevant information.

       Sharing information on the Seeds of Gold articles.

c)    The customers visiting the university desk made several positive comments    about the exhibits.

d)  Some visitors made requests for demonstration to farmers on use of the sorghum thresher.

Several visitors made orders for purchase of sorghum thresher, feed mixer, chaff cutter, vegetable dryer and groundnut sheller.
